How do you escape from reality when it becomes too much to bear?

Great for the Body and mind…..Love, Meditation, Religion, God, Hobbies, Sex, Reading.

Harmful to the body options……Suicide, Alcohol, Drugs, Mental Illness (Depression, Anxiety, Schizophrenia), obsessions, unprotected sex.

Are there people who deal with it head on without feeling the need to escape reality ever?!!! I can not pretend that everything is ok when it isn’t. People say that I am immature.

Great speaker, translator.
Am I yahoo answers experiment???
I am an artist.
I get depressed from time to time, anxiety, I think of suicide.
I have racing thoughts sometimes. I think I will have to do yoga and meditation for the rest of my life.
I don’t know what life is about.
I like to make people laugh sometimes.
I would like to feel emotionally stable and be able do great things.
From my point of view, I think my parents are lost. I think that’s why I am lost too. I am a human being. I think. My personality changes a lot. It depends on the environment I’m in. Do we live in a strange world, yes.
Do I want to have kids? No
Why?
I don’t want to pass down my genes. Some people say that things happen for a reason, some say that god does not exist, some say that earth is hell, some people can see into the future, some people get all confused, some people can’t see the bigger picture, we live in a post modern world, everything is filtered, reality, truth, non-existant, don’t know. HELPP

Do you think God is more the quiet peacefulness? I think a lot of people expect "human" characteristics, like signs, and voices and intervention.

meditation and god
Does the Bible mention anything in terms of finding God and meditation?

Is there a quote that relates to meditation and the search of God? I found Psalms 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God." I'm a big fan of Wayne Dyer …. it is great to worship Jesus and meditate ….. I only became a Christian and so I am new to all this ….. all information given is to put me in the right direction is greatly appreciated. :)

****** sake. (I put those there.) Prayer IS meditation! Prayer is talking to his Father in Heaven. It is a moment of gratitude, questions, and answers. Of course, if you receive God's answers for you 1.) Do not doubt it, but 2.) Reflect understand. Meditation is a time to reflect and meditate. To relax and concentrate on areas of self himself to improve in order to achieve a higher level of spiritual awareness and holiness. So, unless you do not pray, or go through the same sentence without being with God, prayer CADA is a meditation. Also, unless you read the scriptures, but to do nothing more, then every time I read and study and reflect on what you read is a meditation. There is nothing wrong with taking some time, quiet and alone, to think of ways to improve, to really have some insight into his spiritual nature, to see how closer to God or be a better person. I do not do this anymore, but meditation (for whatever reason, more secular for me now) has always been a big help. Especially for me is just to take a break during the day, think about what I've done, what I do and how. Sometimes I take time to think about how I want to improve who I am and how I can reach these goals, particularly in how I treat PPL. God / Jesus, whoever or whatever, did not say "run and run and running and I do not! failure to stop and reflect, not stand still, do not try to feel the Spirit !!!!" not, any good Christian realizes that said otherwise. My advice, this was his choice, meditation is an alternative to you now, and I recommend it highly. Whichever path you take, with his Christianity, Meditation will help enormously.

i am looking for a center close near southgate michigan. where i can further my study of meditation. i have been trying meditation for about a year now, but i feel i need someone to help me along the way. i am also looking for some good suggestions on some good books for beginners. any info is well appreciated.
Thanks william, but i have study the bible and scriptures and other religions for about 7 years. now i am looking for help with the actual meditation. in my honest opion all religions have the same GOD. and if you look at all the underlininges of said religions, they all want the same things. peace and love.
just wanted to add that the current KJV bible was made with books left out in 184 AD. by St. Constantine. also if you look at deuteromity chapter 12 V 32. you will see what i am getting at.
Sorry William. i may have interpreted your response wrong, and wish i could erase what i have already written. and in its place put. i already know what i want/need to meditate on, now i am looking for guidence of the process. thanks again William for your contribution.
John P. i have read numberous books dealing with meditation, and spirituality. including books on christianity, buhdhism, and also some vedi scripts(sp) i also have done a google searcha nd the closest centers were 30+ miles away, now i know thats not that far. but i was looking for something alittle closer. even if its a little sangha. just someplace where i could get some hands on advice and guidence. i have practiced chakra meditation, as well as kundalini meditation. i would really just like some good books for beginners and a nice community to help me grow in my search. thank you for your advice.
oh sorry john, i am not attempting to practice any certain tradition of meditation. just meditation in general. i like your explaination on the breathing, as i have read alot of different breathing methods. i really appreciate your advice and i need to go and reread it again. also the real reason i first posted this question is to find a community, and because i recently fginished 2 books on the subject. well one is on meditation and very small. while the other focuses more on Buhdihism

Easter Meditation: a Song for Men’s Choir

‘Easter Meditation’ A Song for Men’s Choir This is my latest choral composition. I recorded it myself using the wonders of digital equipment, and the result could’ve been worse, though it doesn’t match a real choir by any means. The words are: What thing, what vision is this, Great branched, wide-girthed vessel of life, Opning palms in gladness, greeting sun With white buds, who wonder with wide eyes, Bursting from branches, born from bareness, Regenerating in resurrection? What Word did I hear spoken, when the awakening wind passed? I do not know, nor can know, Not see, nor wish to see, The halting rhythms of divine energy, Though I behold death undone before my own very eye, I only feel the soft breath of Gods life: Salvation repeated in silent mystery-play.
