What style of yoga is right for me?

I began the practice of hatha yoga very basic about five years ago. I had a few years out and have Satyananda yoga for almost two years. I have been witnessing a progressive level class for six months in daily practice. Unfortunately, because starting a new job, I can not attend my class Satyananda more and am looking for a new class. This got me thinking. I'm really confused about what style of yoga is best for me. I tried some Iyengar classes, but was extinguished by the time they told us to hold poses. Apparently it was the physical body and had little to do with the other important aspects of yoga. I joined a vinyasa class at the same time and really enjoyed it, but again, I thought it was too much emphasis on physical aspects. It would have been perfect if the class ended with a yoga nidra or guided meditation. I loved my Saty.class, but sometimes felt a little meditation long. Whiners! Any suggestions? What style do you like?

What kind of meditation do you do and what are the benefits?

Name it, if it has a name, and describe it briefly. It is meditation on a theme (love, peace, etc.)? Do you attempt to keep your mind on something (a location in the body, a specific thought, an internal image, etc.)? If there is scientific research on your meditation give a web page with the references..
Of course, there is also transcendental meditation in which there is no theme and no attempt to keep the mind on something.
Mr Obvious: Usually people doing research on meditation have name for the meditations that they study. Superficially, two meditations may seem identical, but the details are important. The benefits may depend on them. So we identify the meditation with the specific teaching that one goes through to learn it. In this way, there is no confusion.
Why the thumbs down? It is not nice. Meditation is a very large concept. There are religious meditations and there are non religious meditations.

Great for the Body and mind…..Love, Meditation, Religion, God, Hobbies, Sex, Reading.

Harmful to the body options……Suicide, Alcohol, Drugs, Mental Illness (Depression, Anxiety, Schizophrenia), obsessions, unprotected sex.

Are there people who deal with it head on without feeling the need to escape reality ever?!!! I can not pretend that everything is ok when it isn’t. People say that I am immature.

I want to start meditating, not for religious purposes, but because I read that when the mind is in deep meditation it achieves mental clarity, which sounds cool. And I read the book Eat. Pray. Love and t made meditating sound very healthy, as did Angels and Demons. so I want to try meditating, but I don’t know anything about how to do it, so if someone could recommend a medation how-to book, that’d be awesome! thanks!!!!!!!!
