Interested in starting yoga and meditation …?

I'm going through a time of great stress in my life right now and that yoga and meditation I recommended it. They said they would help relieve stress, relax the body and mind, and help with a lot of different issues in general. I read a book on mediation and really interest me. I'm not in a postition to start taking classes right now for what would be a good way to begin to learn and practice these ideas? Books, DVDs or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've been doing yoga for about 6 years, and seriously, who is the best. There are some good yoga DVDs out there. I Yoga for Dummies is pretty good. Yoga.com (http://www.yoga.com) is another good resource. Once you learn the proper movements, you can always burn yoga programs on your TV. I record from time to time (Namaste) to mix my routine. The most important thing when choosing a DVD is to get one that explains and demonstrates very clearly the positions. If you're not doing it correctly, You could get hurt. I know you say you're not in position to take classes, but it would be beneficial to go to one or two if possible. A good instructor to correct their mistakes and make sure you're not hurt. As for meditation, there are plenty of good books. I will recommend the "Dummies" books again because they give you a good overview of the different techniques. Try them out, and when you find one you like a specific book for this technique. You do not really need one book for meditation though. Just sit quietly and let go of thoughts that come into your head. At first you will have tons of thoughts, but as you practice, you will be better to clear your mind.

what meditation techniques are good for snorkeling?

I am a free diver from Australia and I can hold my breath for a while, but I want to go longer so I can reach 60meters. i no longer should do meditation to reduce heart rate, but just never learn that some t iv been told correctly and it can really improve my free diveing. anyway I do not want answers stuiped please, or something that im not the question, all I want to no if you can point me the right way or a site with the same technique a little free divers use (I am aware that all free divers shy of what they do to get focus, all im asking for is examples) thanks

What I will say now is not directly related to diving … or any other aspect of life! But it was way savasna (Death yoga pose), which directly led me to God Almighty! In my search for Almighty God, sincerely Neti trajectory (no no, this), located in yoga pose Savasana … corpses are! Neti research the way it has been preached in the first place and defended by Ramana Maharshi … an apostle of the sermons silence! Lying in yoga pose Savasana … when practicing Neti … the beating of my heart began to whittle away at! I got to a stage in life when my heart beat down to 30 … Then 28 … I was 26 years old! It was at this moment my heart began to flutter … something deep in me always trying to not go away! The voice inside me that seemed to come from inside my heart told me point blank that if I can reduce my heart beat 24 … I immediately going to die! The happiness I experienced when my heartbeat was 28 can not be explained in words. I am not an avid swimmer, but whenever I went to the pool … Could swim under water for quite some time. If I had known that the movement of right chest I can say with one hundred percent confident that I could have covered the length a submarine full Olympic-sized pool once! You can find my articles on writing Savasana Savasana or followed by Vijay Kumar Neti. By reducing the beating of my heart to 26 learned an important lesson in life … the maximum age of a human being can be between 240 to 275 years! People who affirm the Otherwise … there are yogis who age over 700 years is a lot wrong! Therefore it can be! it is a question about meditation / yoga that I can learn to go on a retreat?

You do not have to go to a retreat to learn about meditation. There are online self-help books and video mp3 you can try. The mediation mechanism is well explained in the book of 'Falun Gong in China ". The effects and benefits are discussed in detail at the conference Zhuan Falun. Both books and video demonstration of meditation can be downloaded free from the address listed below. If you need help, contact a professional in your area for free instructions. Falun Gong was found in 1992 by Master Li Hongzhi in China. About 100 million followers and practice in over 80 countries worldwide. Falun Gong is an ancient practice for the body, mind and spirit based on the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Falun Gong consists of five sets of powerful exercises. Falun Gong, Tibetans, Buddhists, and Taoists have been persecuted in China. The violation of human rights more offensive is the removal of organs from Falun Gong practitioners in China. Can you kindly sign a petition to stop persecution of Falun Gong in China, please? http://cipfg.org/en/news/petition.html

Maybe I stay for a few minutes in zero state. I know my level of spirituality?

I've been practicing meditation for 12-13 years. Do not have a meditation guru, but I learned more. First I was concentrating on Ajana chakra. So I was practicing vipassana. Now I feel adays thick cushion of the wall, using a pillow to support again for 30 minutes every day. While meditating i reach zero state (samadhi). I can go anywhere time the zero state. Guru is necessary but can not commit to a guru. Please help me.

No Guru? How can you grow spiritually? Sounds like you are putting much effort into it to no avail.

The book is very thin and funny and quirky. There are tips on dating, work and meditation. The cover is green with a cartoon picture of a girl in a purple yoga outfit. I can’t remember the name. PLEASE HELP!
          Dear Zen Master:
Because you were so nice as to provide such a helpful reply I thought I’d give you some insight. I’m a devout Christian, have been saved and invited Jesus into my heart a few years ago. I feel that Buddhism is more a way of life than a religion (just for me). To judge someone on their religion is not what God teaches. We’re to be kind and understanding to all, it’s not our place to judge, nor do I judge you. But I thought I’d share a little bit of background for you. Thanks again.
