When in London I can get one for a meditation training?
I want to learn to meditate and I was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could go? Preferably in south London, but W1 and the city are fine.
That would be an ecumenical matter.

Does anyone know how I can learn mindfulness meditation?
I'd really like to be in it and I found videos on youtube that shows how beneficial it is, but few on how practical reality. You can not afford to go on any type of course, but would be open to buying a DVD or something. Any extra advice you can give me on the subject would also be greatly appreciated. If it helps you understand my question (although it has been very helpful so far) I am looking attention as I learned that can be very effective with respect to my long-term depression and eating disorder. This is the reason I put it under "psychology" instead of "spirituatity 'or' religion '.
What is Mindfulness Meditation? Mindfulness meditation is a type of that essentially involves focusing your mind on the present moment, to take into account is to be aware of your thoughts and actions in the present moment. The research of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD has shown that mindfulness meditation improves mood, reduces anxiety and depression, and increases immune function. Jon Kabat-Zinn has some excellent books out called: "The Mindful Way Through Depression", "Coming to our senses: healing ourselves ourselves and our world through Mindfulness "and" where you go, there you are: mindfulness meditation. In everyday life, "Practicing the "basic" Mindfulness Meditation: Find a quiet and comfortable to sit in a chair or on a cusion on the ground with head, neck and back straight. but not stiff. Put aside all thoughts of past and future and be in the moment. Become aware of your breathing, concentrating on the sensation air entering and leaving your body as you breathe. Feel your belly rise and fall, the air enter the nostrils and out of your mouth. Pay attention to how each breath changes and is different. View all thoughts come and go, whether to be a concern, fear, anxiety and hope. In attending a meditation is "an observer of the thoughts that arise in the mind during meditation. These thoughts are not analyzed or judged harshly, but are recognized as just are thoughts and feelings. They should not be clung to, by clinging causes suffering. We use the breath as an anchor. What does this mean? When a thought / feeling arises in the mind, it is noted that "making a mental note of it, then back to the breath. This practice of mindfulness meditation requires patience and in daily practice – patience and wisdom is cultivated it is earned. Remember not to be hard on yourself when your thoughts wander, be kind to the mind, and simply return to the breath. The practice of fifteen minutes a day – for starters – is sufficient.

I want to learn meditation or relaxation techniques?
I want to learn meditation or other relaxation techniques. Can anyone TYPES me to start?
First, you must book a time in your daily life to this, I'd say about 20 minutes or less. Then find a place where you know you will not be disturbed when you are meditating, like a patio or solarium. When you get that discovered, then can move to the real part of meditation. do not have to bend in some crazy positions or anything, just sit however you feel comfortable. Then close your eyes, or if you prefer, keep them slightly open. breathe deeply to try to clear your mind of everything you're thinking. it will take some practice, but once you can do that, you're in the most quiet of happiness I've experienced. when you have finished meditating, do not just stand as quickly as possible. take two deep breaths and walk slowly as you begin to re-examine where you are. could also help to have some game quiet relaxing atmosphere.

"The main purpose of meditation is to learn more about themselves" Debate?
This is an essay question that I have given Buddhism, and do not know what to write. : SI have studied Theravada, land Zen Meditation Rinzai pure. I guess you could argue that Zen is focused on tathagatagarbha (Interior) so I guess this is the main goal so you can attain enlightenment. while in the Pure Land and Amitabha based on dont need to learn something about themselves. am i right? please help thanks
In Theravada, the goal is to quiet and focus the mind (samadhi) in order to see how it behaves. So this is partly about finding out about you, and partly on the establishment of the ease and confidence to continue the route. Thereafter, the Vipassana meditation is a very experienced, according to the three signs (Anatta, Anicca and Dukkha).

There are a lot of software available lucid dream, but most do not work. It turns out that the most effective lucid dream software is a simple timer lucid dream you can get for free on the Internet. You can use the meter without having lucid dream out of body experiences and astral project too!
So how does one counter that help lucid dream? The secret is to wake up and fall asleep and move more, which eventually enter what is called "sleep paralysis awake."
Waking sleep paralysis where your body is temporarily disconnect your voluntary muscular system of his mind to allow you to have very active dreams, without the danger that can move and wake up.
By using the timer that beeps every few minutes when you wake up and fall asleep and over time the body is confused about what is happening. After about 4 or 5 cycles ending in what is called "Mind awake / body asleep", which is another term for sleep paralysis.
When this happens it feels like a heavy lead blanket has been put in because suddenly you need more nervous energy to achieve the same muscle movement.
This also automatically puts you in a state theta brain that sends you directly to a subconscious focus. This allows you to have experiences outside the body, even without the use of visualizations!
You can find OBE free online timers and only by searching Google for "timer lucid dream."
The best is an Adobe Flash meter that can be opened in your laptop. It allows you to customize exactly how often it should beep. For example, the timer interval more common OBE is called the ramp timer "setup" and reads:
8 minutes
4 minutes
8 minutes
12 minutes
16 minutes
20 minutes
20 minutes
6 minutes
6 minutes
6 minutes
…
Usually, when you use the timer setting that will eventually spontaneously become lucid in the middle of the intervals of 20 minutes. You also likely to sleep paralysis and waking out of body experiences during the tail end repeated every 6 minutes.
You can also use a digital kitchen timer that you hold in your hand. This is what I used when I first has begun to emerge and it works fine. However, you must be able to replace the kitchen timer with your thumb without looking. This is because if you move to reset timer that will ruin your sleep paralysis and have to start all over again.
So no need to spend much money on expensive software lucid dream, just download a free lucid sleep timer and use it to start having lots and lots of OBE and lucid dreams tonight!

Do you think that 20 $ monthly membership is high for a Zen Center?
I use to play chess in Dallas, big club, and annual membership fee was only $ 60. Now, why do I have to pay annually $ 240 to sit (zazen) in a Zen Center? I think excessive to you? Also that the Zen Center in Dallas with apparently a lot of members so they tell me that everything is in the public services.
. I had the impression Zen Center that were following the Buddha's tradition without seeking money or goods and materialistic values. I guess I will stay at home with my meditation on court:),
Only in America we have this strange notion that we should not need to support the Dharma. Does not exist in traditional Buddhist countries where "religious tithing in "United States 10% of their income is the norm as little insulting. Why do you think it is fair that other people pay to support the access of dharma, a teacher, his teachings and a reliable place to practice? As children, our parents to see to our needs, but part of growing up is learning to be responsible on our own. If you honestly can not afford $ 20 a month to support the availability of the dharma and a place to practice (and this requires a lot of serious introspection – It is difficult to imagine that an adult who is not less than one dollar a day to support something so profoundly important to them) – what became the center of Zen say when explained his situation to them? DID you focus on them about it did not, and will be available for work may become a member? Or see if anyone would be generous willing to play mom or dad to you and to cover their costs?
